What clients say:

Before we started working with Mahmood we had a lot of issues with previous accountants with deadlines and receiving the correct advice. We now have the right processes in place for financial budgeting, cashflow management and/or financial forecasting. This has given us the confidence to make new hires/investment in resources that have helped to grow our organisation (and our impact). Having a more strategic approach to financial planning gave us the confidence (and the data we needed) to expand our work across three more counties – something we wouldn’t have done otherwise

Vijay Mistry

Director, 2Funky Arts

Mahmood has helped us move to a new bookkeeping package more suited to our needs and reporting requirements as an arts charity with multiple funding streams and projects. We started seeing results after the first few months of undergoing training and implementing our new bookkeeping package with Mahmood and his team and appreciated his sage advice on financial management issues. The most valuable part for our organisation was having someone with accountancy expertise who understood the charities and arts sector and was able to provide advice in a clear and accessible way.

Sonia Hyams

Executive Director, Pegasus Opera Company

Working closely with Mahmood we have put together strategic approaches for customer relationships, financial forward planning and project management. The results have been a step change for Drum and Brass, and have involved all staff in much more of the strategic understanding of our work. Mahmood and his team understand us and our finances, and have our organisations best interests at heart. We now have the right processes in place for financial budgeting, cash flow management and/or financial forecasting. This has given us the confidence to make new hires that have helped to grow our organisation and demonstrate our impact.

Meet the Virtual CFO founder

Hi – I’m Mahmood

I created the Virtual CFO because I was talking to many arts organisations who said they:

  • Were spending far too much time on financial management (including preparing trustees reports and financial statements) – typically because they were relying on multiple systems (and even spreadsheets) to track their finances
  • Didn’t have consistent processes for budgeting, cash flow management and/or financial forecasting processes – which made it challenging to plan for future growth
  • Felt cautious about making investments in people and resources – because they didn’t have the right ‘data’ to help with decision making
Mahmood Reza, Founder of Numbers Knowhow®

With more than 30 years experience running my own accountancy practice – and experience as a trustee on a number of arts-based organisations, I know that having the right financial strategies, systems and processes can help arts organisations go from surviving to thriving.
